April 23, 2015 | Uncategorized | 7 comments

Which is why I’ve written a novella called TURN THE TABLES which I’ve contributed to SWEET DREAMS, a limited edition digital-only boxed set curated by Brenda Novak for the benefit of diabetes research. It includes thirteen never-before-published novels and novellas and costs only $9.99 (that’s less than $1/story). THIS BLANE AND KADE PREQUEL WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE IN THIS BOX SET AND ONLY FOR A LIMITED TIME!!! Who else is in the set? New York Times Bestselling Authors Allison Brennan, Cynthia Eden, J.T. Ellison (who is contributing CROSSED, the long awaited prequel to her Taylor Jackson series), Heather Graham, Liliana Hart, Alex Kava (who is contributing BEFORE EVIL, the long awaited prequel to her Maggie O’Dell series), CJ Lyons, Carla Neggers, Brenda Novak, Theresa Ragan, Erica Spindler, and Jo Robertson. Pre-order this set now (wherever ebooks are sold) so that you receive it when it’s released on May 1st. Once SWEET DREAMS goes on sale, it’ll only be available through June 30th. All proceeds will go to The Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami (they are doing some amazing cure-focused work). Our goal is to raise $300,000 and, with your help, we should be able to do it. Please note that Brenda has also curated a contemporary box set as well as a “hot” romance box set, so check those out, too. You can find more information at Pick up your copy now! Love Triangles

June 6, 2014 | Blog, Kathleen Turner Series, Love Triangles | 1 comment

Rhett, Scarlett, Ashley. Bridget, Daniel, Mark. Pacey, Joey, Dawson. Katniss, Peeta, Gale. Bella, Jacob, Edward. Buffy, Angel, Spike. Sookie, Bill, Eric. Damon, Elena, Stefan. As a romance reader, love triangles create strong feelings and attachments, which may be why we love them so much. Most everyone can relate to unrequited love: he loves her but she loves him and he loves somebody else … Tales of fiction allow us, the reader, to fall in love not once, but twice. And not just with the good guy, but with the bad boy, too. Looking back at that list of names, it’s easy to pick out those common characteristics. Maybe it’s a childhood friendship that turns into something more, or a love-hate relationship that begins with hostility and ends with undying devotion. Either way, it’s easy to feel for characters caught up in such emotional upheaval. However, one can only have so much sympathy for a woman like Kathleen Turner — torn between two handsome, successful, extraordinary men who love her and put their lives on the line for her. What woman wouldn’t want to be Kathleen?… Read the full article at USA Today’s Happily Ever After...

An Open Letter to Readers

May 21, 2014 | Kathleen Turner Series, Love Triangles, Point of No Return | 98 comments

***Warning!  Contains Spoilers for POINT OF NO RETURN!***   I have so many wonderful readers who’ve followed Kathleen, Blane, and Kade on this journey and I am ever so grateful to them for loving these characters as much as I do.  I know lots of people, particularly Blane fans, have questions about how I chose to end the series. Some of these fans have vented hurtful and vitriolic messages to me via Facebook or messages or Amazon reviews. To those readers, I have nothing to say. To the Blane fans that understand someone had to win and someone had to lose, I want to talk with you about the why. I feel you deserve that much. I completely understand what it’s like to be so invested in a character that their tears feel like your own and your happiness hinges on theirs. I’ve been reading romance novels since I was eight years old. Believe me, I get it.  When I set out to write this love triangle, I knew very well that only one man would end up with the girl. Love triangles are tricky, as any writer of them can attest, and I’m sure some writers shy away from them for this very reason—the angry readers whose guy doesn’t win. The easy way out, of course, is to write the story so that one man does something awful, something unforgiveable, so that the heroine’s choice is easy. I didn’t want to do that. That’s not Blane and it’s not Kade. All three characters have made some poor choices over the course of the series, but they’ve also grown in who they are and in their love for one another. In the end, The Kathleen Turner Series is a story about love, redemption, and sacrifice—and not just for Kathleen, but between the brothers as well. Blane is a wonderful man and it’s been a joy to create him as a character, change his life, and turn him into an even better man than he was in NO TURNING BACK. Kathleen did that, and his love for her. Could Kathleen have been happy with either brother? Yes, absolutely. Was there a brother more suited for her? Yes, absolutely. Kade and Kathleen clicked from the moment I wrote their first scene together. Kade “got” Kathleen and Kathleen understood Kade. While I may have wavered in my own decision of how the series would end, Kathleen and Kade never stopped clicking. Them being together was…inevitable. Can we love more than one person in our lives? I think so. I know I have fallen in love more than once. Do you ever really fall out of love with a person? To some extent, yes, but I believe there’s always a little piece of your heart that remembers that past love. As Blane says in POINT OF NO RETURN, part of him will always love Kathleen—how could he not? She changed his life for the better. Is he still “in” love with her, which is something quite different? No, I’d say not. Did Blane get the traditional romance genre Happily-Ever-After complete with wife and 2.3 kids? No, he didn’t, but I’d also say that wasn’t something he desired any longer by the end of POINT OF NO RETURN. His life took a different path. I...
