Shameless Summer Blog Hop!

red hot books

Thank you to Jen at Red Hot Books, Brie at Romance Around the Corner & Michelle at Michelle’s Book Blog for hosting this hop!

So, I’m not the most inspired of bloggers and now I feel pressure to write something for this hop. All I can really think to share (and this is how my mind works) is how I was driving home from work the other day (a long, tedious daily torture) when I saw a man driving a motorcycle. Okay, I know they’re not safe, they’re called organ-donors, etc. blah blah. I know all that, and I still think they’re sexy as hell. With the right guy driving. (caveat).

This guy looked pretty good. Black helmet. Black leather jacket (yum). Faded jeans. Sneakers and no-show socks.

Woah. Wait a sec. Really?

I looked again. Yep. Several inches of bare, boney ankle showing above the tennies. Huh.

Maybe it’s just me, but ankles are one of those body parts I view as more of a feminine asset than a man’s. For instance, I don’t often say “Hey! Check out the ankles on THAT guy!” It’s just not a body part I look for, until it’s prominently on display as it was with Motorcycle Dude. Another caveat – men in shorts with the whole lower leg on display IS attractive. Just the ankle? Not so much.

So here’s my question – what are your thought? Are mankles (man+ankles, get it?) sexy? Or am I just odd? (no wait -don’t answer that last bit). Are there other manly parts that aren’t so “manly” to you? Tell me in the comments and enjoy the hop! Giveaway information follows.

If you’re new to this site, I write the Kathleen Turner series. Romantic Suspense involving a young woman (Kathleen) living and working in Indianapolis, and two Alpha males both drawn to her, though for different reasons. Kathleen’s your normal, average kind of girl. She doesn’t hunt vampires, cast magic spells or see dead people. Blane Kirk and Kade Dennon are your basic red-blooded hunks, each with a dangerous past, who happen to also be brothers. They don’t fear the full moon, have an unhealthy appetite for O Positive, or call another solar system home. Kathleen becomes entangled with both of them in not only life-threatening situations, but in her heart as well.

There are two books in this series currently (NO TURNING BACK and TURN TO ME). There will be a total of five. Book three will be released this Christmas. For this hop, I’ll be giving away free print or ebook copies (winner’s choice – though print is restricted to Cont. US) of the first two books. To enter, please leave your email address below.

Update: Contest is now closed. The winner (chosen by picking a number in my head and then seeing who was that commenter – very high-tech, I know) is Diane Sallans! Thanks to everyone who entered!

Thanks for visiting!

  1. I don’t know so much about mankles… but I love feet. I mean, I don’t want to touch them, or heaven forbid, smell them. But I love how they look…so manly 🙂 But I always start with the eyes, then the smile 🙂 I have a thing for hands too!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. Noooo your not odd and yes I too love mens ankles.. I like eyes that twinkle and smiles that are genuine. My turn off is hairy backs and super hair chests – yuck 🙁

  4. Love your books! Man ankles could possibly turn me on – and the motorcycle example could certainly stand out in one of your books – keep it in mind! Just depends how it’s written.
    **Love the give aways**

  6. I agree with you… naked ankles accompanied by a naked leg, yes please. Naked ankle with jeans and on a motorcycle is the ultimate in, no thank you! I’m also not a fan of overly hairy men (especially the back & eyebrow); but am a fan of big, strong, sexy (well-kept) hands. 😉

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. Do not like little tiny hands on a man. I met a country star once who I loved and thought was so sexy. Took one look at his hands and was totally turned off by his girly-looking hands.

  12. Mankles are definitely not a turn on for me. Neither is a hairy chest or back. I look at a man’s eyes first & I love broad shoulders & chest on a man.

  15. LOL! It wouldn’t have been the ankles per se as I enjoy watching me ride motorcycles particularly a touring bike.

Loved the first book in your Kathleen series!

  16. In my warped brain….the only men I know who wear no-show socks are runners. Runner = stamina. Motercycle = hot. Physical stamina + Motercycle mentatility = a fabulous combination.

  17. Can’t say that “mankles” do anything for me either. However, almost all the rest is great, LOL. I must say that something I do love is nice hands and wrists. Strong, manly hands can really make you feel good, lol.

  18. I was just introduced to your books and read both in 5 days! I am hooked. As for guys and motorcycles, I have to say I do like the sport motorcycles. What is sexy? When the rider is all in the black with helmet and black boots. That way you can daydream that he looks just like you want him to look!
    Keep up the great writing!

  19. Hmmmmm, ankles really have no special appeal to me to be quite honest. I think as long as they are “mankles” and not “cankles” I’m ok with it :p I think one of the things that is considered manly that I don’t care about is the chin! I really don’t care for chins, especially super prominent ones. I know it mind sound weird but oh well :p I think I’m pretty typical though, I love broad shoulders, tallness, muscular legs and arms. Actually don’t mind if guys don’t have abs either. Think that is a little over played :p I think both Kade and Blane are sexy though 😀 hehe more Kade then Blane. Mmmmmm hehe. Can’t wait for Christmas!!!!

  20. Have to agree with you on the mankles. At least he was sporting a pair of tennis shoes and not topsiders w/the no show socks!! I personally look at a mans hands and fingernails then eyes and teeth!!!
Thank you for the wonderful Kathleen Turner series. I’ve really enjoyed books 1&2 so far.

  27. mankles are up there with sandals and socks. i think its funny looking when guys, even built ones, wear shirts that are too small for them. i know a few football players who are all muscley but they wear what looks like baby doll tees. just silly. can’t wait for more Kathleen and Blane and Kade. my favorite books in a long while!

  29. Yeah, I’m not much for looking at men’s ankles. Besides if you’re a guy riding a motorcycle you have to have boots. There’s just something sexy about a guy on a motorcycle if he looks like he’s supposed to be on one. Shorts, tennis shoes, sandals… not so much! Thanks for the giveaway!

  30. lol Mankles 🙂 I absolutely hate feet, especially my husbands hahaha, is that bad. If his foot touches me in bed, I jump away. I’m real picky about the shoes though, if a sexy man is wearing ugly shoes, I will turn away and oogle no more!! 🙂 This is an amazing giveaway, I absolutely love your books and I love the fact you have a counter at the top for book 3, keep working, I am oh so impatient 🙂 Would so love a print copy of my fav. books, thanks for the chance to win
